Ahoy Sailors,
It’s been a fun season on the water! Our Club usually sails into October, but this year South Shore Yacht Club (SSYC) begins new construction at the crane area on October 8th, and their Yard Master has asked us to get our boat out beforehand. Since SSYC graciously lets us use their crane free of charge, we’ll be hauling out early.
That means our season is ending sooner than usual: we only have about ten days left to sail, weather permitting. If you’d like to get out on Lake Michigan one more time, please contact Dianne Dagelen at (414) 232-3208 or me at (414) 397-2076 soon.
BOATS OUT
When: Saturday, October 3rd, 9:30 am until about noon
Where: SSYC parking lot, 2300 E Nock Street
Bad-weather backup: Sunday, October 4th
The plan: we’ll move the trailer to the crane by the north gate, take down the mast and other hardware, crane the boat onto the trailer, move it to the park side for washing, then cover it and return it to the parking lot. PFDs will be provided.
We need all hands on deck. Even if you can only be there for an hour, your help will be greatly appreciated. Dress for the weather and wear old clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Gloves, boots, sunscreen, and water are a good idea. Many hands make light work.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: We’re looking for one or two sailors to bring the boat from Jerry’s Dock to SSYC on Friday, October 2nd. If you’re interested, please let me know.
Please RSVP if you plan to attend Boats Out on October 3rd. This will help us know how many people we can count on for the work.
